A report by UniHomes has found Coventry is the fourth most competitive city for student housing in 2026-2027.

Only behind Liverpool, Bath and London, the report shows Coventry students are facing one of the most in-demand student accommodation climates. These findings come from an analysis of three years worth of search behaviour on the UniHomes website, along with Google searches, to determine demand per available student property in popular student cities.

Coventry is set to have the fourth highest demand out of the 20 cities in the report, with over 800 projected searches per property for the 2026-2027 letting season. UniHomes says they hope these findings will help prospective and current students be prepared for their search for housing.

UniHomes CEO Phil Greaves said, "We know trying to search for next year’s student home alongside uni deadlines and exams is stressful for students, and we want to alleviate that stress as much as possible."

Phil also said, "Being informed about the local student market in their city will help students in the most competitive areas understand the benefits of acting early to secure the best accommodation, and hopefully provide reassurance if they’ve found it difficult to secure accommodation that there are localised reasons why."

UniHomes shared some advice for students following this report about how best to find and secure accommodation. Head of Marketing Liam Chambers said, " 1. Don’t panic - Regardless of where you’re searching, it’s important to make sure you’re comfortable with who you’re living with before you start viewing houses, as you’ll be spending the next year with them.

"2. Be informed - Knowledge is power. UniHomes’ Coventry section has FAQs on when most students start looking for next year’s accommodation, average costs, which areas are most popular, and which types of accommodation are most in-demand among Coventry students.

"3. Be organised - when you are ready to start house-hunting, make sure you’ve got everything prepared - including a guarantor, deposit, who you’re living with and what kind of accommodation you’re after. UniHomes have collaborated with student letting agents to produce this guide with tips for maximising your chances of a successful enquiry.”
