How does Coventry celebrate the festive season?
The Christmas season is fast approaching which means the City of Coventry will be hosting so many Christmas themed events.
On the 14th December we will see an event located at the Coventry Cathedral called Blue Christmas which is set to start at 6pm. This is a service which will help support those who struggle during this year and is planned to help guide people who feel lost as well. There will be other events happening at the Cathedral such as the Britten’s Ceremony of Carols which is on the 18th December at 5:30pm. The event will feature the iconic Cathedral Girls Choir and there will be a chance for the audience to sing along. On Christmas Day, Kate Massey, the event organiser, stated that there will be the traditional ceremony which is due to start at around 10:30 which will consist of the tribute to Jesus Christ, many Christmas music, the screening of the famous Christmas animation, The Snowman as well as a Christmas dinner festival where everyone is welcome to attend. A local who has visited these events before stated that “the turnout is enormous and that many families come here to spend Christmas” which present how important these events are to the people of Coventry.
Coventry Cathedral setting up for it’s month long Christmas service
Across Coventry we have already seen many festive theme introduction such as the reopening of the Christmas market which occurred on the 22nd November, located at the centre of the city. There is a large variety of foods for everyone to enjoy which allows the market to be catered by everyone, for example, hotdogs, marshmallows, turkey sandwiches and vegetarian options.What makes this market stand out is how multicultural it is as well. Featuring foods across the globe such as Germany, Chinese and Norwegian dishes. This further allows everyone to enjoy the market without feeling left out.
On the 29th November will hold the Winter Light’s Trail at Coombe Abbey where there will be a mile long trail full of Christmas oriented lights. Amongst the trails there will be massive speakers playing iconic Christmas tunes to immense the vibe further.
