Is Snow-vember coming? Storm Claudia hits as temperatures plummet
Storm Claudia has landed in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Met Office issued an amber weather warning from midday today, and heavy rain and wind are set to continue through Saturday.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said, “Much of this will fall on saturated ground, increasing the chances of flooding and contributing to the Amber warnings we have issued. Within the Amber warning areas, some could see in excess of 150mm accumulate during the event, with 60-80mm fairly widely.”
The Met Office also warned the rain could cause "fast-flowing or deep flood water, causing danger to life.”
Temperatures are set to drop from next week. A spokesperson from the Met Office said, "There is the potential for some snow in places next week if certain scenarios play out, but it is a long way ahead in terms of snow forecasting."
While it is uncertain if snow will fall in the West Midlands, conditions are set to be icy, with lows of -2°C on Thursday and Friday.
