Most popular Coventry student areas revealed

New data published by UniHomes has identified the most popular living areas across Coventry for university students. The housing and utilities platform analysed over seven million listing views on its platform from October 2025 to September 2026 to find accommodation and student house hotspots, as well as which areas have been the most searched for. Coventry has a large student population, with both Coventry University and Warwick University students looking for housing in and around the city.

The city centre and the area around the Coventry University campus are the most-searched areas on the UniHomes website, followed by Cannon Park and the Warwick campus. The data shows an emerging demand for city centre living, with Cannon Park falling from first place. Further and potentially cheaper options are still popular, with Tile Hill and Kenilworth gaining the most popularity from last year.

UniHomes also shared the most popular student streets across the city.

Friars Road has been named the most popular student road with over 2,000 total listing views on UniHomes, a 76% increase from the 2025-26 letting season. Just a ten-minute walk from Coventry University and a six-minute walk from Coventry Rail Station and Central Six shops, Friars Road is an optimal location for many students. Colchester Street also saw over 2,000 views, a 37% increase from the previous year.

Prior Deram Walk near Cannon Park fell from first place last year to fourth this year, largely due to a decrease in accommodation listings in the area.

UniHomes also found that four-bedroom houses remain the most searched-for accommodation type on the website. There has also been an increase in demand for one-bedroom accommodation, almost catching up to the demand for student houses.

The research comes as part of an initiative to make house hunting easier and less stressful for students across the country by identifying local trends.

Lian Chambers, Head of Marketing at UniHomes, said, "The accommodation you choose has a huge bearing on student life. We help Coventry students find the best accommodation for them by bringing options from across the market into one platform,  flagging nearby points of interest on each property listing, and by sharing insights into what makes each of the city's major student areas popular.”

"With over ten years of experience tracking student housing demand nationwide, we see first-hand how timing, preparation and local knowledge can make a difference between a smooth search and a stressful one.”

Lian shared tips for students looking for housing. He said “The three top tips we give students are:

  1. Don’t panic - Regardless of where you’re searching, it’s important to make sure you’re comfortable with who you’re living with before you start viewing houses, as you’ll be spending the next year with them.

  1. Be informed - Knowledge is power. When you search on UniHomes, you’ll find Coventry-specific tips around when properties usually go live, how popular certain areas and property types are, and when demand usually peaks.

  1. Be organised - when you're ready to start house-hunting, make sure you’ve got everything prepared - including a guarantor, deposit, who you’re living with and what kind of accommodation you’re after. This makes the process much smoother for letting agents, maximising your chances of a successful property enquiry."

Coventry has also been named the seventh cheapest student night out by UniHomes, with local pubs and clubs targeting the student population with deals on tickets and drinks.
