The Christmas market has reopened in the city centre

Located in the City Centre is the infamous Christmas market which features the familiar Big Wheel. The stalls will host a variety of foods which caters to all tastes as well as many activities to keep you entertained.

The famous Big Wheel returns located in the city centre. The ride offers a beautiful skyline view of Coventry where you can see landmarks Coventry is known for, such as the modern cathedral as well as the ruins of the old cathedral. As it approaches the evening time you can see Coventry light up as the Christmas decorations illuminate the whole city.

The stalls have many food choices featuring fulfilling meals such as Yorkshire pudding wraps, hotdogs both vegan and non vegan, mince pies as well as beverages to wash it down with such as mulled wine and fruit smoothies. There is also a small furnace where you can toast your marshmallows and add your favourite sauce. There are also stalls full of different activities to complete, for example, a handcraft gift section, street performances as well as live performances to really make the market feel like a Christmas wonderland. The performances will be interactive features well know characters such as Rudolph the Reindeer, Santa as well as Elves.

During the night, the market illuminates the whole of the city centre making it feel magical. Walking alongside the market you will smell the strong scent of food such as mulled wine as well as toasted marshmallows. You can see the Christmas ornaments twinkle as the light from the decorations traverses in colour. The ambience is very lively, hearing families and friends chattering away as well as well known Christmas music playing through the speakers. This is the perfect place to spent the night outs with friends and family since it will be an unforgettable memory. I managed to get an interview with a local who bought food at the market and enquired about what his thoughts are on it. He stated how “vibrant the market gets during the evening” and that “Coventry never disappoints” when it comes to celebrating Christmas. Since the market is very close to the cathedral you make me lucky enough to hear the chimes of the bell which really makes you into the Christmas spirit. Seeing families and friends come together and having a good time shows how magical this market is during the night.
