Boss Thomas Tuchel has picked a balance of experience and youth in his England midfield for the upcoming November 2026 internationals, with eight midfielders set to compete for positions in the heart of the team.

The reshaped department includes newly called debutant Josh King, 19, is the youngest member of the squad. Eberechi Eze, 28, is the oldest midfielder selected, while Arsenal’s Declan Rice, 27 and 9 months, remains the second oldest and the most experienced senior midfielder to guide the new additions.

Tuchel said: "We have enough number 10s and we stick to the guys who were in the previous camp because we were happy with the two and a half weeks we had together.

“We have Josh King as a new player in there, but I want to see him on both wings. He is kind of an extra player and he can play all four positions."

The selection gives England an average age of 23 years, 9 months and 12 days. This makes it the youngest midfield to ever be named by a manager in the national team’s history.

The closest of the modern era is Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions squad at Euro 2016, aged on average 24.5 years.
