Mother of three killed by ICE
Renee Nicole Good - Shot January 7th 2026
Renee Nicolle Good, age 37, was shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis on the 7th of January. She was shot shortly after a brief confrontation as ICE agents surrounded her car. She had just moved to the city to start a new life with her wife and children recently.
She has been said to have committed an act of “domestic terrorism” by the Trump administration, who claim she tried to “weaponize her vehicle” against the federal enforcement officer who shot her. A full investigation led by the FBI is still underway.
Renee’s death has sparked mass protests across the USA and specifically in Minneapolis, with protesters meeting enforcement officers in the streets to express grief, anger, and frustration at the recent situation.
Political figures across the city and state have come together to condemn the actions taken by ICE agents on Wednesday, with Mayor Jacob Frey telling ICE, “stay the **** out of Minneapolis” in a heated press conference two days ago. Governor Tim Walz, who recently announced that he wouldn’t be running for reelection, also threatened to pull in the National Guard if ICE doesn't pull out of the city and tensions don’t calm down soon.
Central to this tragedy is that now three children don’t have a mother, and a woman has lost her wife. Renee was an award-winning poet, and with community leaders stating she was at the scene as a legal observer of ICE operations.
ICE agent named as Jonathen Ross by local media
In recent hours, local media have named the ICE shooter in question as 43-year-old former Iraq veteran Jonathan Ross, whom officials have described as an “experienced” officer. Vice President JD Vance stated that Ross had been dragged by a car attempting to flee a scene only 6 months ago, which may have influenced the actions taken on January 7th.
