England U21s prepare for March camp
Manager Lee Carsley keeping a keen eye over training.
Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Jobe Bellingham were amongst the stars training at St. George’s Park ahead of England U21s qualifying double-header against Andorra and Moldova.
Brighton midfielder Jack Hinshelwood was the only player to miss the session leaving Lee Carsley with 22 players. Salford goalkeeper Matty Young took part as a training goalkeeper alongside selected keepers James Beadle, Tommy Setford and uncapped Tommy Simkin. Young was last selected for the U21s for the matches against Andorra and Moldova back in October.
The Everton cohort were keen to stick together. Tyler Dibling and Tyrique George were all smiles before the drills began. They’ve found gametime restricted under David Moyes at club level, and the two toffee’s will be competing positionally with Strasbourg’s Sam Amo-Ameyaw this window, who could receive his first U21 cap. The speedy youngster grabbed an assist in last weekend’s 3-2 Ligue 1 win over Nantes, and could be a Chelsea target after his former manager Liam Rosenior made the move to Stamford Bridge recently.

Myles Lewis-Skelly could be another to make his debut, despite having 6 senior caps, as well as a goal against Albania in March last year. The Arsenal left-back has been out of favour at the Emirates, leading to England boss Thomas Tuchel to prefer Nico O’Reilly for the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

Ben Nelson is the other potential debutant. The Leicester City centre-back looked focused as he worked alongside possible defensive partner Josh Acheampong. Now 22, Nelson will be keen to make an impression after finally stepping up from the U20s.
